Maternal & Fetal Medicine

Areas of Care

Pregnancy is an exciting journey — but it can also come with uncertainty. Whether you’re just starting to plan or are already expecting, our Maternal & Fetal Medicine team is here to support you every step of the way.

If you’re facing a high-risk pregnancy or have concerns about your baby’s development, our specialists work closely with your OBGYN to create a personalized care plan focused on keeping you and your baby as healthy as possible.

Expert care when it matters most.

We provide compassionate, expert care for a wide range of complex pregnancy-related concerns, including:

  • High-Risk Pregnancies: Extra support and monitoring when complications come up.
  • Genetic Conditions: Screening for conditions like Down Syndrome and other chromosomal differences.
  • Fetal Development Issues: Tracking your baby’s growth and development closely.
  • Cardiac and Medical Complications: Co-managing pregnancies affected by maternal heart disease, diabetes, or other health issues.
  • Structural Anomalies: Diagnosing and monitoring physical concerns in your baby throughout pregnancy.

Advanced testing and services.

We offer a full range of tests and diagnostic services designed to give you the information and reassurance you need throughout your pregnancy, including:

  • First Trimester Ultrasound: A combination of ultrasound and bloodwork between 11 and 14 weeks to screen for genetic conditions.
  • Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS): Genetic testing using placental tissue, typically performed between 11 and 14 weeks.
  • Amniocentesis: A test of amniotic fluid performed after 16 weeks to detect genetic abnormalities.
  • Detailed Anatomy Ultrasound: A comprehensive scan, usually at 19–20 weeks, to evaluate your baby’s growth and development.
  • PRISM Program: We offer emotional and mental support through our PRISM Program (Pelvic, Reproductive, Intimacy, Sexuality and Mental Health).
  • Fetal Echocardiogram: A close look at your baby’s heart, done after 22 weeks, to spot any structural or functional concerns.
  • Non-Stress Test (NST): Starting in the third trimester, this common test checks your baby’s heart rate and overall well-being.
  • Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI): An ultrasound to measure how much amniotic fluid surrounds your baby.
  • Fetal Biophysical Profile (BPP): Combines ultrasound and NST to check things like your baby’s breathing, movement and muscle tone.
