•Unbelievably Unprofessional My experience was deeply disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable. I found this provider to be dismissive, demeaning, and unwilling to acknowledge or correct clear misunderstandings. There appeared to be a significant lack of active listening once she had formed an initial opinion, and attempts to clarify or correct that judgment were met with defensiveness rather than consideration. Most concerning was the apparent bias surrounding certain medications. If you are a veteran or take a prescription medication that she personally disapproves of, it seems that her perception of you changes immediately, regardless of your medical history, documented compliance, length of treatment, or legitimate medical need. This is particularly troubling when the medication in question is not even something you are asking her to prescribe. Patients deserve to be evaluated based on their individual medical circumstances, not assumptions or preconceived judgments. People with disabilities and complex medical histories should never be made to feel as though they must defend their character simply to receive appropriate care. After this experience, I have returned to Yale for my healthcare. This was my one and only visit with Hartford HealthCare, and unfortunately, it was enough to make my decision very easy. If you are considering where to receive care, I strongly recommend Yale.
